THE TRUTH IS IN YOU AND WITH YOU

We can live Christianity without participating in the Kingdom of God. If looking for a full and rich life, you will not find it in your own accomplishments and not in religion. This assumes that you are looking and that you have not accommodated yourself to the illusion that what you already have is a full life – which brings me to my contention for this post. Many Christians are not alive. Some of the most active Christians are not alive in their spirit and even when presuming to speak for Christ they do not speak words of spirit and life.
A DEEP LIFE FOR YOU
Richard Rohr observes that, “Far too many people just keep doing repair work on the container itself and never “throw their nets into the deep” (John 21:6) to bring in the huge catch that awaits them.” (1) The ‘deep’ he speaks of is their real life in God that comes not by living religion, a religious christ or a legalised gospel. The deep is our beginning to live in union with Christ – the kind that Paul calls ‘Christ our life’ and John described as ‘Christ come in our flesh’.
IN CHRI
Christ has not come in our flesh if we are not living in the Spirit but in the externalities of the law, church culture and Christian lore. Real life in Christ is an incarnation – which is what we celebrate and remind ourselves of at the Lord’s Table.
It is difficult to enter the second part of life where the deep self is found and where the nets break from the massive hall of fish, if our eyes have been dimmed and our brain confused by our immersion in false doctrine of the kind that Paul termed, ‘No gospel at all.’ This is why the first part of life consists of discovering the Door to life who is the real Christ and not some distortion arising from a cult or a sect. Once we realise that what we currently have is a prison, we are ready to see the Kingdom of God and step into it. This is what Jesus meant when He said that we cannot see the Kingdom of God unless we are born again. This means ceasing living in ourselves and beginning to live the union with Christ that He has already given us.
